The birth of their first-born was only a few months away and they were totally new to this baby phase. No doubt, the most astonishing times in one’s life. Babies grow up so quickly, so it’s important to savour and cherish every moment.

Enchanting decisions!! Isn’t it?  Will it be sunshine yellow or lively green? Pastel polka dots or subtle stripes? A solar system, a dollhouse or a farm full of baby animals? Of course, they wanted their little one’s corner to be picture perfect tempered with little imperfections.

Here’s how CUBS helped them design her little one’s new digs, with her comfort and convenience in mind.  Soothing, yet organized within every inch of its square footage.

Client Essentials

The beautiful couple lives in Kochi in a 2 bedroom rented apartment. They wanted to convert a corner of their master bedroom into a baby corner. She wanted to be careful not to clutter up her bedroom with the baby gears a yet create that personal space in a shared room. What better way than just having a baby nook or corner.

The mother very well knew that she and her baby will spend a lot of time together in this room and it was the next challenge for CUBS to strive to make this whole new experience a festive, cosy and safe one!

All she wished for was…

  • A baby friendly cheery room
  • Safety- A Priority
  • Not to overcrowd the room with baby stuff but to keep it minimal
  • Mom savvy

CUBS Chronicles

Doing up a Baby room doesn’t need to be costly, tricky or difficult. While there were decisions to be made, they were all very manageable and simple. We just wanted to make sure that both, Baby and mum love whatever we do!

The quintessential Pink or Blue?

Nah!! We did not want to settle on only a pink or a blue. We played with gender neutral colours like green, yellow, white and brown which look great in a nursery for both;  a boy or a girl. We chose wall hangings, sheets, cushions, toys, and carpets that reflected the colour Green!!

The Baby Cot: With clean lines, straight wooden legs, this IKEA Baby Cot brings a welcome dose of playful fancy into the baby room. Make sure that the mattress fits the cot snugly, with no gaps at the sides.

Details like the graphic cushions with nursery prints; the diaper stacker, the cool toy and the black reminder board provide tiny pops of bright colour to the muted colour scheme.

Carpet:  The stain resistant, water proof IKEA Carpet in green, added the large splash of a gender neutral green

Cushions: Cant imagine a baby room without polka dots, which symbolize the baby’s first step towards learning. Keeping this in mind, the green and white polka dot cushion from a local vendor added the much needed play.

The Black and white frames and Animal prints gave the much-required final touches to the mundane walls. It could help strike an interesting conversation between the baby and the printed characters!!
